Kabul hails Beijing economic support to Afghans

KABUL (Pajhwok): Acting Government Spokesperson ZabihullahMujahid has said Afghanistan will not go under the economic hegemony of any country while praising the People’s Republic of China for economic cooperation with Afghanistan.

Mujahid, who inaugurated the construction of a mosque and two wells in the Ministry of Justice, said the two projects were funded by China, which he termed as a gesture of good will from the neighboring country.

He termed China a valuable country and relationship with Beijing an achievement. “During the Jihad we had ties with China through our political office in Qatar.”

Mujahid pointed out the MesAinak Copper mine, railway line to Logar from China, transfer of electricity from Bamyan to Logar and export of pine nuts worth nearly two billion dollars as key economic projects carried out by China.

He added since political change in Afghanistan till now, major economic steps had been taken by China and Kabul desired strong ties with Beijing.

Referring to transparency in bilateral relationship, he said: “Afghanistan will not become economically occupied by any country.”

He hailed China economic cooperation and asked Chinese investors to widely invest in Afghanistan in order to help pull out Afghanistan from economic crisis and after effects of decades of war.

Acting Justice Minister Sheikh Abdul Hakim Sharae thanked China for its economic support to Afghanistan and said foreign nations lending support to Afghanistan was the reflection of their cordial intentions.

He told the world community: “We will not sell our creed and soil. We forgave our enemy with whom we fought for 20 years and our problems are getting resolved with passing of each day.”

Chinese Envoy to Afghanistan during the ceremony said Afghanistan was an important neighbor of China and Beijing always maintained cordial ties with Kabul.
