PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): A woman in central Logar province has given birth to four children, all of whom are in good health, but her family is worried about their care due to poverty and financial difficulties.
The children, three girls and a boy, were born at Pul-e-Alam Central Hospital in Logar province.
The grandfather of the children told Pajhwok Afghan News that he was happy that God blessed him with four grandchildren at one time but was worried about keeping them due to his poor economic condition.
According to him, all four children and their mother are healthy. He said his family was facing severe economic problems and it was difficult of him to take care of the quadruplets.
The grandfather said food prices had risen so much that poor families could not afford to buy them. He said the prices of medicines and other essential items had gone up.
However, Omar Mansoor, spokesman for the Logar governor, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Governor Haji Mali Khan had visited the family of the four newborns and provided financial assistance.
He added: "During a meeting with the grandfather of the children, the governor of Logar promised him that he would be ready to take care of them till the end of his mission in the province."
The family is originally from Dobandi village in Khoshi district but now lives in the refugee town of Pul-e-Alam.
A few days ago, three children were born in Kandahar to a mother who said she could not take care of them due to economic problems.
