All Covid-19 hospitals to be reopened, says MoPH

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) says hospitals for the treatment of the coronavirus will be reopened.

Dr. Javed Hajir, spokesman for MoPH, told Pajhwok Afghan News there were 38 Covid-19 hospitals across the country, 29 state-run and nine private.

“The whole process of Covid is, currently closed. Only 21 such hospitals, three of them private, are operational at the moment,” he informed.

The spokesman added the ministry had been in talks with various institutions on reopening the hospitals as a number of international organisations had agreed to fund these facilities.

The International Organisation for Migration (IOM), the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) have promised funding the hospitals.

Dr. Hajir explained the European Union had also pledged to donate 150 tonnes of medicine and medical equipment to the coronavirus hospitals over the next two weeks.
