Afghans must end differences, animosities: Ahmad Khan

QALA-I-NAW (Pajhwok): Ahmad Khan Faristan, a resident of western Badghis who has been striving to resolve disputes, is happy with the end of the conflict, and urges his countrymen to love each other and end their differences and animosities.

Ahmad Khan Faristan, 50, resident of Qala-i-Naw, who has studied up to 12^th grade, told Pajhwok Afghan News that he had resolved dozens of disputes, large and small, with the support of elders over the past two decades.

According to him, he has resolved ethnic disputes, disputes between families and between neighbors.

Faristan owns a solar panels and refrigerator shop in Qala-i-Naw Bazaar. “For the sake of Allah, I strive to resolve disputes and not let small disputes escalate.”

“I’m very proud that wherever I go a case is resolved, Allah is witness that when I go for a case. first I perform ablution and then read prayers and supplications and ask Allah to resolve this case,” he explained.

“We work day and night to solve the problems of people in order to have happy days and nights, unfortunately small problems and differences sometimes turn into big and cause permanent problems in the village, neighborhood and community and sometimes it becomes very difficult to solve.”

He said the spirit of revenge was strong among Afghans, but he always strived to bring the conflicting parties to love, brotherhood and kindness.

For instance, he said that a young man lost his life in a traffic accident in Qala-i-Naw Bazaar about four months ago.

He said the talks between the driver and victims’ family were very tense but after two or three jirgas (meetings), the victim’s family accepted elders’ mediation and forgave the driver.

About six months ago, he said, differences between the Mohammadzai and Mumki tribes reached a point where they could not enter each other’s territory, but he mediated with the help of other tribal elders, and the issue was resolved in such a way that now these tribes had not problem with each other.

He added that Afghans had long been living in violence, strife, problems and mistrust for the last 40 years, but now there was no war in the country, they should love each other and put an end to their differences and enmities.
