JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Intelligence forces have stopped Pakistani forces from installing barbed wire fence in Lalpora district of in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Tuesday.

In videos clips and photos circulating on social media, Nangarhar’s intelligence chief, Dr. Bashir, is seen loading bundles of barbed wire into his vehicle in Palwasi area of Lalpora district and shouting at Pakistani forces.

“Look, this is the last word, your security post is installed in a wrong location, we have many things with you to clear, (you should avoid taking your foot from your post to this side)…,” he told Pakistani soldiers.

On social media, the intelligence department’s move has been praised by common Afghans.

Roman Momand, a resident of Lalpora district, also told Pajhwok Afghan News that Nangarhar intelligence chief and his staff prevented the barbed wire fence by Pakistani forces on Monday.

He said Pakistani forces had already installed a barbed wire fence on Afghan soil beyond the zero point area and were now trying to trespass further, but they were stopped by Afghan forces.

Nangarhar governor’s office also confirmed the incident in a statement that read that Afghan forces stopped a newly-built Pakistani military base on the Durand Line and removed barbed wire in Lalpora district.

According to the statement, the Afghan side told the Pakistani side that they would not remain silent on illegal activities.

The Pakistani side in the area was prevented from advancing and extending the barbed wire and security forces are on high alert, the source said.

Meanwhile, Mulavi Mohammad DaudMuzamil, the governor of Nangarhar, and a number of military officials visited the area and assured security forces of complete readiness.

In addition to Nangarhar, Pakistani forces have also crossed the zero point area towards Afghanistan territory in many other provinces including Kandahar.
