FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): The residents and civil society activists in western Farah province have appealed to fellow countrymen and women to work for consolidating peace and stability in the country that suffered decades of wars and conflicts.
Hameedullah Hameedi, 28, the resident of Farah City, has been working for peace in the country from the past few years. He completed 12th class and graduated from Journalism Faculty of Kabul University.
During an exclusive chat with Pajhwok Afghan News, he said believed that working for peace in the country and eradication of violence was his moral duty.
On the bases of his believe, he said he participated in several gatherings that promoted peace and always encouraged people to reconciliation and mutual acceptance.
For instance, he said in Herat province he led a peace committee where he worked really hard for peace and reconciliation. In Farah province, Hameedi said he organized some gatherings the purpose of which was promotion of peace and reconciliation.
Hameedi said he invited 400 youth from different areas of Farah province and arranged their gathering in which they discussed ways to promote peace and stability.
Last year on Independence Day, they celebrated the day through Youth Peace Caravan and launched cleanliness campaign in Farah City.
During cleanliness campaign they talked with the people about peace and on his personal expenditure he wrote peace related slogans on walls in Farah City.
The purpose of all these efforts was the establishment of peace in the country and preventing Afghans from falling victims of conflict anymore.
“The only hope I had in my life was a nation-wide peace. I want to call on our people to come together and jointly work for durable peace in the country,” he said.
Farid Khaliqi, a close aide of Hameedi, participated in many peace related activities with Hameedi said: “I am with Hameedi in his peace mission from the past three years. We carried out very special activities during these years and encouraged the people of Farah to peace and stability.”
“Now that Islamic Emirate took charge they will continue their peace related activities and assured the people that Afghanistan will achieve durable peace,” he believed.
