JALALABAD (Pajhwok): The police chief for eastern Nangarhar province on Sunday assured the people of security and safety.
A statement from the police headquarters said Maulvi Neda Mohammad Nadim visited Sherzad district on Saturday to assess the security situation there.
Nadim assured people of security during a meeting and asked them to cooperate with the government on implementing security plans.
The police chief called on the people to cooperate with the government in upholding the rule of law and taking necessary steps to prevent criminal activities.
The tribal elders assured the police chief of cooperation on all legal matters and asked for jobs for youth to strengthen security.
Malik Rizwanullah, a tribal elder, said people had always cooperated with the government, which should resolve their problems.
He promised Sherzad residents would continue to help the authorities maintain security, but the government should provide education and job opportunities to the people.
The police chief has recently visited many districts of the province to seek support from locals and encourage them to cooperate with security forces.
