MAIDAN SHAHAR (Pajhwok): Bilal Ahmad has won the first position in the Seerat-un-Nabi competition, with Ahmad Zia and Sohail ending in second and third spots respectively.

About 100 educated youths from different parts of central Maidan Wardak province took part in the event, organised by the Information and Culture Department on December 27.

Information Director Qari Safiullah Raed told Pajhwok Afghan News that Bilal Ahmad, a resident of the provincial capital, won the first place with 96 marks.

Ahmad was followed by Ahmad Zia with 93 marks, obtaining the second position. Sohail got 92 marks and grabbed the third position.

He said Sohail, originally hailing from the Batikot district of Nangarhar province, was currently living in Maidan Wardak.

The department awarded a bicycle to Ahmad, 10 religious and modern books, a pair of clothes and a pen to Zia and three books, a pair of clothes and a pen to Sohail.

The director said the contest was aimed at enhancing youth’s knowledge of Prophet Muhammad’s life, teachings and manners. It was also aimed to promote the culture of reading.

He added venues would be set up in the capital and other districts of the province for hosting such competitions and every two months a Seerat-un-Nabi contest would be arranged in the province.
