JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A poultry feed-processing plant worth $15 million has been set up in eastern Nangarhar province, officials said on Wednesday.
Set up by the Tal Pasarlai Agriculture Company, the plant will produce 12 tonnes of chicken feed in 24 hours, they said.
The feed will be exported to different provinces of the country as well as to neighbouring countries, like Tajikistan and Kazakhstan.
The factory was inaugurated by the Nangarhar governor and the head of the Chamber of Commerce and Investment of the province.
Syed Javed, an official of the factory, said the plant had been built by Tal the Pasarlai Agricultural Company at a cost of $15 million in the Sheikh Mesri Industrial Park.
He added 500 people were working for the factory, which had the capacity to produce 12 tonnes of poultry feed in 24 hours.
Governor Maulvi Mohammad Daud Muzamil, voicing pleasure over the inauguration of the factory, hailed the creation of business and production opportunities was a welcome step.
He assured traders and investors of all-out support, security and cooperation in creating facilities for them and solving their problems.
Gul Murad Arab, head of the Nangarhar Chamber of Commerce, asked for the construction of roads leading to the industrial park, supply of electricity, security and commercial facilities.
The company also has another factory, whose products are exported to many provinces in addition to Tajikistan and Kazakhstan.
