KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan cricket team has arrived in Doha, the capital of Qatar, to play three One Day Internationals (ODIs) against the Netherlands, an official said on Monday.
Cricket Board Spokesperson Farid Hotak said the three matches’ series was vital for both sides because this will pave the way for the participation of the Afghanistan team in the upcoming World Cup.
“Afghanistan is hosting these matches which will be played on 21st, 23rd, and 25th of January,” he said.
Cricket Board Chief Mirwais Ashraf said the upcoming series was crucial and this time young Afghan players had been given the chance to show their metal.
He said the players will first conduct a training camp before the start of the series.
He hoped that the national side will play better and win the series. Afghanistan currently has 30 points at the ODI team ranking.
