CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): The Salang highway, connecting Kabul with northern provinces, has been closed for traffic due to heavy snowfall, an official said on Tuesday.
Samiullah Walizada, the highway maintenance commander, said up to 90 centimeters of snow had lashed the highway.
The commander promised the key route would be reopened intermittently for passenger vehicles -- but not for cargo trucks.
