FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): A Taliban Reform Commission comprising different officials has started work in northeastern Badakhshan province, an official said.

Badakhshan Security Spokesperson Mawlavi Abdul Haq Abu Umar said the panel, headed by deputy governor, is tasked with cleansing Taliban ranks and removing unwanted persons.

“Individuals in Taliban disguise who violate rules, extort people, have criminal background and suppressed people in the past will be identified and removed from the Taliban ranks,” he said.

Information Department Director MaazuddinAhmadi said the Commission will conduct a scrutiny of Intelligence Department, Police Department, and military personnel stationed in the province.

The process will continue for two weeks and more detail will be provided after the process is completed.
