KABUL (Pajhwok): Turkmenistan Deputy Foreign Minister Wafa Khadzhiev has arrived in western Herat province to discuss stepping up work on TAPI project, according to a statement on Friday.
A statement from Herat Chamber of Commerce and Industry said Khadzhiev and his accompanying delegation held talks with chamber officials on TAPI project.
Turkmen foreign minister said that work on the multi-national energy project will be completed in Turkmenistan this year and the pipeline extension work will start in Afghanistan.
Khadzhiev stressed over a proper gas distribution system in Herat and other cities. Some Afghanistan provinces will get gas from TAPI pipeline.
Herat Chmaber of Commerce Head Mohammad Younis Qazizada said technical issues related to the project should be shared with private sector for future cooperation and assistance.
