KABUL (Pajhwok): Work on putting down the Noori optic fiber network will resume this year, an official said on Saturday.
Work on the underground wires began 14 years ago, but it was stopped due to the recent political change in the country.
Ministry of Telecommunication and Information Technology spokesman Inayatullah Alokozai told Pajhwok Afghan News that optic fiber would be extended to all parts of the country and people would have access to cheaper and good quality internet.
He said the state-run Afghan telecom planned to resume work on the Noori optic fiber this year.
Due to 20 years of conflict, many Afghans still lack access to internet.
