FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): Tens of children have died from measles in the Nasi and Kuf Ab districts of northeastern Badakhshan province, according to a high level delegation report on Friday.
According to report, the number of children died from measles is 157 but Public Health Ministry said 65 children died from measles in Dar Kuf and 16 died in Nasi districts from disease.
Qari Mohammad Nazir Nazar, deputy head of Badakhshan Health Department, said on Thursday evening a delegation comprised of Mawlavi Nisar Ahmad Ahmadi, Badakshshan Health Director, World Health Organization director for northeastern region, UNICEF representative and some children health experts visited state run hospitals in the two districts.
They also delivered 47 cartons of medicines and measles vaccine o the district.
He said during the past two months 16 children died from measles in Nasi district, 65 in Kuf Ab, two in Darim and one child died in Faizabad.
He said the spread of measles would be brought under control after the delegation visit to the two most affected districts.
