FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): Two journalists have opened a women’s only tailoring workshop for the first time in northeastern Badakhshan province and created work opportunity for 10 women.
Abdul BaeesHakimi and NazimQasimi, the two local journalists in Badakhshan, opened the workshop costing 80,000 afghanis in Faizabad city, the provincial capital, today.
Hakimi talking to Pajhwok Afghan News said that the goal of opening the workshop was to create jobs for women who had lost spouses and they were now the breadwinner of their families.
He said that 10 women currently worked in the workshop. He added that he opened the factory with his own expenses.
MaazuddinAhmadi, information and culture director of Badakhshan while opening the workshop, praised the creativity of youths and said that the local administration would try to promote such programs to help women’s economy.
“Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is not opposing women’s work through legal sources, work is good for women’s self-sustainability,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mariam Hakimi, a worker at the workshop, said that 10 women worked there with three of them instructors and the rest were trainees.
She asked the government and aid organizations to provide them with financial and technical support.
