SHARAN (Pajhwok): Residents of Ibrahim Karez village in Mata Khan district of southeastern Paktika province are urging the government to rebuild their homes destroyed by US airstrikes.

Mohammad Barat, a resident of the village, told Pajhwok that the government should rebuild their destroyed homes.

“14 years ago, in the month of Ramadan, American forces brutally raided our village and destroyed it.”

While breaking into tears, Barat said: “The Americans entered people’s homes at 12:00am in the night and even shot children in cradles and martyred them.”

He said 12 members of his family, including his mother, father, two brothers and a sister, were shot dead by Americans.

He added that the United Nations and other relevant international bodies should bring the perpetrators to justice.

He said the entire village was destroyed in the brutal assault and no one had come to their aid.

Asadullah, another resident of the village, told Pajhwok that the US forces attacked women with their dogs but no one questioned them.

Akbar said their village had been completely destroyed and the government should now help rebuild it.

He added that the government and charity organs should not only help them rebuild their houses, but should also provide them with education and health facilities.

Paktika Deputy governor Maulvi Mohibullah Hamas told Pajhwok the village’s destruction was a great tragedy and the government would do its level best to help the villagers.

“The Islamic Emirate will cooperate with the residents of the village in every aspect,” he added.
