Turkey won’t join sanctions against Russia: Erdogan

KABUL (Pajhwok): Turkey has ruled out joining US and Western sanctions against Russia for invading Ukraine.

“In terms of sanctions, we are studying certain UN guidelines, but let’s not forget that we cannot put aside our relations with Russia,” the Turkish president said.

Tayyip Erdogan told reporters on Friday; “About half of the natural gas we use comes from Russia. Besides that, we are building our Akkuyu nuclear power plant with Russia.”

The Hurriyet newspaper quoted him as saying that Turkey had sent 56 truckloads of humanitarian aid to Ukrainians.
