HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): The Salma Dam in western Herat province led to a spike in voltage this year, officials say.
Eng. Ahmad Sharif, technical manager at the dam, confirmed an increase in the voltage and said the dam’s water storage capacity had also increased significantly following recent rains.
Sharif recalled the water-storage capacity of the dam had fallen last year due to the prolonged dry spell last year.
But this year, he explained, the dam’s water-storage capacity increased in the wake of rains in recent months. The dam generated about 19,500 megawatts of electricity.
