New curbs include ban on investments in Russia: White House

KABUL (Pajhwok): Additional American sanctions will include a ban on investments in Russia, the White House says.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki told reporters the curbs would be designed to weaken the fundamental instruments of the Russian government.

She announced: “This will include a ban on all new investment in Russia, increased sanctions on financial institutions and state-owned enterprises in Russia …”

TASS news agency quoted her as saying: “These measures will degrade key instruments of Russian state power.”

Following its invasion of Ukraine in late February, Russia has been hit with biting sanctions by the US, the UK, the European Union and some other countries.
