KABUL ( Pajhwok) The Assistance Mission in Afghanistan UNAMA Urged the Acting Afghan government to halt their intimidation of media.

UNAMA Said in a tweet published on Friday, Arbitrary & incommunicado detentions of journalists & media workers by the acting gov shows no sign of abating.

The reporter Bismillah Watandost just released after 10 days in incommunicado detention. But now more detentions.

It said, UN urges Taliban to halt their intimidation of media.

Meanwhile Afghanistan Journalists center says, that dozens of journalists were arrested by gov in the last few months.

AFJC calls on gov to stand by its public commitment to allow a free and independent press and to work with the media in order to promote freedom of the press in the country.

According to the AFJC’s data, at least 72 instances of detention of journalists by forces since the Taliban take over in August 2021.
