KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan has exported asafoetida worth $100 million abroad last year, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said on Monday.
The hing is mostly cultivated in northern provinces especially in Samangan, Faryab, Baghlan, Jawzjan, Balkh and Kunduz and the plant also naturally grows in mountains.
The MoCI tweeted 1,258 tonnes of hing worth $100 million was exported abroad last year.
Without elaboration, the source said that most of the asafoetida was exported to India.
Based on information, one kilogram of hing is sold for 7,000 afghanis.
