KABUL (Pajhwok): Efforts are being made to arrest perpetrators of a rocket attack from Afghanistan into Tajikistan, an official said on Monday.
According to reports, Daesh militant group claimed that it fired seven rockets into Tajikistan from the Khawaja Ghar district of Takhar province on Saturday.
Islamic Emirate Spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid told Pajhwok Afghan News: “Investigation are underway to arrest the perpetrators, we will not allow such incidents to happen in the future.”
He added some ferocious elements that wanted to derail cordial ties between neighbouring nations. “Our neighbours are careful about this issue and we are also careful. They will not be able to create a disturbance, they tried but failed.”
According to Radio Azadi, Tajikistan in a statement said that these were not rockets but bullets that landed in Tajikistan territory from a firefight between the Taliban and Daesh.
After the attack, Tajikistan border forces were on a high alert. There were no reports of casualties or financial losses.
