JALALABAD (Pajhwok): The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) for Afghanistan says it has allocated $9 million for projects concerning education, health and providing small businesses to people in the eastern zone of the country.
A statement from Nangarhar governor's house said that the issue was discussed during a meeting with the UNDP deputy representative for Afghanistan in Nangarhar province.
The statement said that MulaviMohammad BaniNaseh, deputy Nangarhar governor, met with SurayoBuzurukova, deputy resident representative of UNDP in Afghanistan, to discuss the implementation of reconstruction projects in the province.
He thanked UNDP for implementing useful projects in various sectors in Nangarhar and also sought cooperation in the areas of refugees, education, health, agriculture, irrigation, check dams, dams and canals.
Naseh sought cooperation in the reconstruction of houses destroyed in MOAB attack in Achin district of Nangarhar, diseases control, return of displaced families to their own areas and construction of health facilities in the province.
The statement quoted UNDP’s deputy representative in Afghanistan SurayoBuzurukova, as saying "We have currently allocated $9 million for projects implementation in the eastern zone, which will be spent on education, health and small business development.”
She assured deputy Nangarhar governor that UNDP would look into the suggestions and share some of the projects with other UN agencies for implementation.
Buzurukova said that they were committed to the slogan‘We stay and serve’ and they would expand reconstruction projects.
