KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan Medicine Importers’ Union (AMIU) has spurned as rumours reports about a medicine shortage in the country.
Officials of the union told a press conference in Kabul on Saturday that medicines were available in the country, which would not face any shortage.
Haji Kamaluddin Kakar, head of the union, said Afghanistan had historically faced many economic problems and as a result, most of manufacturing plants had been shut down.
He added about 86 pharmaceutical companies were operational in the country, with 55 supplying their products to the domestic market. They produce 360 different types of medicines.
