QALAT (Pajhwok): Security forces have foiled attempts at smuggling hundreds of sheep to neighboring Pakistan from southern Zabul and Kandahar provinces.
Yar Mohammad Massoum, a spokesman for the 2ndKhaibar brigade in Zabul, said the security forces prevented the smuggling of 1,180 sheep in Shamalzai district on Tuesday night.
He said at least 16 smugglers were trying to transfer the sheep across the Durand Line to Pakistan but were arrested.
In Kandahar, border security personnel had prevented the smuggling of 480 sheep to Pakistan in Spin Boldak district and arrested two individuals.
He said the detainees were being interrogated.
