KABUL (Pajhwok): Iran has sent back a number of military equipment that were taken to the neighboring country during the fall of the previous government, an official said on Wednesday.
Islamic Emirate's deputy spokesman, Inamullah Samangani, wrote in a tweet: "As a result of constant contacts with Iranian officials, military equipment and vehicles that were taken to Iran at the time of the fall of the previous regime have been returned to the Afghan government."
"This positive step by the Islamic Republic of Iran will further strengthen relations between the two countries," he added.
During the fall of the previous regime on August 15 last year, large quantity of military equipment were taken out of the country to Iran and Tajikistan, and dozens of security and defense forces and air force pilots fled the country.
