Russia exempts Afghan exports from preferential tariff

KABUL (Pajhwok): Russia has exempted Afghanistan’s exports from preferential tariff, the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment (ACCI) said on Saturday.

According to the Britannica website, the economic integration of several countries or states may take a variety of forms. The term preferential tariff covers free-trade associations, customs unions, common markets, economic unions and full economic integration. The parties to a system of preferential tariffs levy lower rates of duty on imports from one another than they do on imports from third countries.

ACCI deputy head Mohammad Younis Mohmand held a meeting with commerce attaché at the Russian Embassy in Kabul. They discussed trade and investment-related issues.

The Russian diplomat termed the existing level of trade between Kabul and Moscow minimum. He stressed improved trade and investment links between the two countries.

A statement from ACCI said: “The Russian official promised exempting Afghanistan from preferential tariff and pledged to facilitate ACCI officials’ trip to Moscow.”

Mohmand believed meetings between Kabul and Moscow would help boost the trade level between the two countries.
