MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Security officials in northern Balkh province say around 1,400 youth, including 143 women, have been recruited in the police force.
Maulvi Baz Mohammad Huzaifa, police recruitment director, told Pajhwok Afghan News that about 1,800 vacant posts were available in the police headquarters’ formation and of which 1,400 were filled but priority would be given to members of the Islamic Emirate.
According to Huzaifa, members of the IEA who were qualified could apply for the police positions and they would be recruited.
After the collapse of the previous government in last August, all military and civil affairs have been resumed and all the staff attend their respective jobs.
The official called the role of women in police as crucial and said 143 females were recruited to the police force and two each female police officers would be hired in police district offices in the province.
Sayed Ahmad, a resident of Shulgar district, said he was happy to be recruited in police force and would serve his people and the country.
Nooruddin, who has applied for the police job, said he fought foreign forces for the past 10 years and currently wanted to be selected in police ranks.
Mohammad Shah, a resident of Mazar-i-Sharif, expressed happiness over the stability in the country and said increase in police strength could lower the number of crimes.
Gul Mohammad, another resident of Mazar-i-Sharif, urged the government to provide specific uniforms to the police in order to differentiate between common people and police personnel.
