TALOQAN (Pajhwok): At least 10 people were killed in flash flood that swept away hundreds of houses and damaged farmland in northern Takhar province, an official said on Wednesday.
Mullah Ahmad Sair Sajad, director of natural disaster management, told Pajhwok Afghan News recent rain-induced floods played havoc in Warsaj, Rustaq, Yangi Qala, Khwaja Bahauddin and Khwaja Ghar districts.
He said about 10 individuals lost their lives to the floods.
Sarajuddin Mubariz, a civil society activist, told Pajhwok in addition to other losses, farmers suffered huge agricultural losses due to the flash flood.
He urged to government to provide immediate relief to the affected people.
