KABUL (Pajhwok): Over 900 people were killed and 610 others injured as a result of a predawn earthquake in southeastern Afghanistan, an official said on Wednesday.
Maulvi Sharafuddin Muslim, assistant minister of natural disasters, told reporters here that relatives of each victim would be given 100,000 afs. Each of the injured will receive 50,000 afs in compensation.
He said most casualties had occurred in the Gayan and Birmal districts of Paktika province. Latest figures show 920 people were killed and 610 injured.
