KABUL (Pajhwok): Russian President Vladimir Putin has underlined the need for giving all afghan ethnic groups a say in running the country.
The Russian president said: “We proceed from the assumption that all of Afghanistan’s ethnic groups must have a say in running the nation.”
At a meeting with his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rakhmon in Dushanbe on Tuesday, he said his country was keeping contacts with all Afghan political forces.
The state-run TASS news agency quoted Putin as saying: “We will continue to work this way. We have contacts with all political forces in that country.
He insisted Russia had been doing all it could to help normalise the political situation in Afghanistan. “We are trying to establish relations with the political forces that control the situation.”
