Living on roadside, woman longs to meet daughters

FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): An elderly poverty-stricken woman, living in a tent on the roadside in western Farah province, seeks immediate support from the government.

Khor Bibi, who hails from the Hazai village of the province, told Pajhwok Afghan News: “My husband was an ordinary man, who died 10 years ago.’’

Following the demise of her spouse, she continued to live in the village. However, over the past four years, she has been living in a roadside tent in Farah City.”

She said: “I have two daughters but they are married and live in Iran. No government or NGO has provided me with any support. At times, commuters give me pieces of bread, or 10 or 20 afs.”

Having no brother, the woebegone woman has not inherited any property or wealth from her parents.

Omaid, a villager, confirmed Khor Bibi had no relatives. On and off, he said, villagers provided her support.

Palpably depressed, the woman said her biggest dream was to get a passport and go to Iran and meet her daughters there.
