ASADABAD (Pajhwok): Thirty-one mobile health teams have been tasked with providing health services to people in remote areas of eastern Kunar province, an official said on Sunday.
The teams have been deployed in areas where people lack access to health services, Muzaffar Mukhlis, Director of Public Health, told Pajhwok.
He said as per the plan and policy of the Ministry of Public Health, mobile medical teams have been assigned to 31 areas that previously lacked access to health services with the help of various international organizations.
Muzaffar said: "In many areas of Kunar, people do not have access to health centers and services; after an assessment, we have activated mobile health teams in 31 areas of this province."
He says there are five to eight female health workers in each team and they provide medical services to the people.
He added that he has requested the Ministry of Public Health to provide more health services to the people of Kunar.
Local residents said they were happy with the government’s move to deploy mobile teams in remote areas. They said now their basic health needs were mostly met in their village.
Ghulam Habib, a resident of Chapa Dara’s Degal area, said the health center of the district was far away from them and the villagers could not get medical services easily.
“Now that the mobile health team has been activated in our area, our problems are somewhat resolved”.
Adel, a resident of Ganjgal area in Sarkano district, asked the government to increase health services in their area.
According to the Kunar Public Health Department, 76 health centers have been active in different areas of the province, providing medical services to the people.
