ZARANJ (Pajhwok): Some truck drivers in southwestern Nimroz province have complained that Transport officials extorted them in the Dilaram area but transport officials said it was commission not extortion.
Allah Noor, one of the drivers, told Pajhwok Afghan News: “The transport officials have established a check-point in the Dilaram area and took money from people under the pretext of transport commission.”
He said the money was taken from trucks that brought goods from Farah, Kabul, Herat, Kandahar and other provinces.
“Trucks coming from Helmand to Nimroz charged 1,500 to 2,000 afs, from Kandahar-Nimroz road are charged 3,000 afs from Kabul-Nimroz 4,000 as. This is unfair on the part of less fortunate drivers,” he said.
Allah Noor said this check-point was eradicated in the past regime while after the creation of new government it was made functional again.
But Director Land Transport Hayatullah Qureshi said truck drivers should pay transport commission after going through 500 kilometers and this amount is not charged locally loaded trucks but on foreign loaded trucks.
