NEILI (Pajhwok): An 80-year-old widow Semeen walks on the roads and in streets of northern Daikunid province and knocks at every door to beg for food but gets nothing.

Semeen also feeds her six grandchildren because her son is a drug addict and she doesn’t know his whereabouts since leaving home five years ago.

Semeen is originally from Kheder district of Daikundi province but economic problems forced her to move to Neili city. The octogenarian has visited every welfare organization but received no assistance because she hasn’t been enlisted by the local councils.

She has been living in a rented room that she fears will be taken away from her because she hasn’t paid the rent since four months.

She told Pajhwok Afghan News that in the past she would collect something when she was begging but she did not receive positive response from people.

Semeen requested the local government and welfare institutions to at least look at her age and help her.
