FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): The government is committed to constructing Bakhshabad dam in western Farah province and other similar projects, the energy and water minister said on Tuesday.

While residents of Farah province expressed their willingness to financially contribute to the Bakhshabad power dam’s construction because of drought and plummeting ground water level in the province.
Haji Dost Mohammad, a tribal elder, in his meeting with the minister and other officials asked the government to begin the remaining construction work on the dam and the residents of Farah province were ready of contribute financially.
Minister Mansor appreciated their contribution and added that the government would open a bank account to collect and spend the money transparently.
He further pledged that the government would pay $600,000 to the construction company and the remaining amount would be paid after progress in the dam’s construction work.
