12m afs retaining wall being constructed in Bamyan

BAMYAN CITY (Pajhwok): Construction work on a 1,000-meter retaining wall has been launched in the Yakawlang district of central Bamyan province.

Mohammad Amin Rasa, district administrative chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News: “The retaining wall’s construction will cost 12 million afghanis and the work was launched in the Siya Dara area of the district on Wednesday.”

He added the wall project would be completed in less than six months with the support and funding of the Islamic Relief Organization.

According to local residents, the project would provide employment opportunities for the people.

Ghulam Ali, one of the local residents, said the retaining wall would protect agricultural lands from flooding.
