Qari Saeed Khosti denies forcibly marrying girl

KABUL (Pajhwok): A girl named Elaha claims Qari Saeed Khosti, a former Interior Ministry spokesman, forcibly tied the knot with her and subjected her to violence.

But Qari Saeed Khosti denied her claims and said he married the woman at her request and divorced her because of religious issues.

A video clip that goes viral on social media shows Elaha claiming that she is the daughter of a general of the former government and former spokesman of the Ministry of Interior Qari Saeed Khosit forcibly married her. She also claimed that she was beaten by Khosti.

Her claims come at a time when wedding invitations of Qari Khosti and Elaha are appearing on social media and it is clear that their wedding happened three months ago.

Khosti wrote on his twitter account: “Six months ago, I married a girl named Elaha at her request, later I noticed that she has problems of belief in religious affairs and faith. I strived to correct her beliefs, but it yields no result.”

Khosti claimed: “The girl insulted Islamic values, even the Holy Quran and I have evidence in this regard.”

“I haven’t beaten her, I used my legal capacity and I separated my way of life. I divorced her. I really regret my marriage and apologize to Mujahideen and Afghan people. May Allah forgive me.”

Government officials have so far made no comment in this regard.
