KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): Local officials say they arranged literacy courses for about 3,000 students in northern Kunduz province last year.
They urged aid organisations to cooperate with the provincial authorities on expanding such programmes.
Residents of the province, who view illiteracy as a serious challenge, want the authorities to increase the number of local literacy classes in Kunduz.
Hazratullah Yousafzai, head of the literacy section at the Education Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News such programmes benefitted about 3,000 students in different parts of the province last year.
