ZARANJ (Pajhwok): Hailing from northwestern Nimroz province, a poetess wants women to help their men by observing the Islamic hijab in the reconstruction of their homeland.

Shah Gul Gulzada, who has provided employment to hundreds of women via civil activities, was born and raised in an educated family in Nimroz.

Currently living in Zaranj, the provincial capital, the 53-year-old has evinced a keen interest in educational and cultural activities since her childhood.

According to her, she has a special interest in poetry and penned her first poem when she was in 8th grade. The poem was published in a book titled Wraka Malgalara (Lost Jewel).

Gulzada has authored two poetry collections — Wraka Malgalara published in the solar year 1387and (Laloono Pa Laman Ke) printed in 1397.

In an exclusive interview with Pajhwok Afghan News, Gulzada said had a passion for poetry since her school days and loved to work for her people’s welfare.

She has rendered services to women in various fields by establishing organisations like Women’s Cultural Association, Sistan Youth and Leading Women of Nimroz.

“I created the Women’s Cultural Association in 1393. As of now, this centre has 600 female members who are busy in educational, cultural and economic activities,” she added.

The poetess claimed providing work opportunities for hundreds of women in government agencies, other institutions and in the private sector.

Having encouraged hundreds of girls to be active in the field of education, Gulzada believes the current situation in the country is unpredictable.

Foreign interference in Afghanistan’s internal affairs, she alleges, saying efforts are being made to foment trouble in the country.

She strongly urged the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan to reopen girls’ schools above 8th grade as soon as possible.

In a message, she said: “My message to the hardworking women of the country is to be strong and observe hijab, which is obligatory for us. Women must work alongside their brothers.”
