KABUL (Pajhwok): The UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) head has discussed with Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi a wide range of issues.
On its Twitter handle, UNAMA wrote: “UN envoy @Otunbayevaat her first meeting with df @MoFA_Afg Muttaqi discussed wide ranging issues for cooperation, incl. trust-building, banking system & edu for all incl. girls …”
Roza Otunbayeva, during her maiden meeting with Muttaqi, acknowledged differences but agreed on the need to bring Afghanistan and the international fraternity closer for the sake of Afghans.
Abdul Qahar Balkhi, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said Muttaqi underlined the need for closer relations between Afghanistan and the world.
Afghanistan and the International community should understand the priorities, conditions of each another, Muttaqi said during the meeting.
The UNAMA chief thanked the Afghan government for offering a suitable work environment. “UNAMA works as a bridge between you and the world,” she remarked.
The UN diplomat promised they would try their best to convey the Afghan authorities’ message to the world on how to rebuild Afghanistan, she was quoted as saying.
She said UNAMA would strive to revive the Afghanistan fund in order to find a trustworthy bank.
She expressed her happiness over improved security and said there were some issues that needed to be jointly addressed.
