KABUL (Pajhwok): Former governor of Kabul Sheikh Neda Mohammad Nadeem has been appointed as minister of higher education, says an official.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the caretaker government’s spokesman, tweeted on Monday night Sheikh Nadeem had replaced Abdul Baqi Haqqani as higher education minister.
Mujahid wrote: "In accordance with a decree from the Taliban’s supreme leader, the former governor of Kabul has been appointed as minister of higher education.”
Nadeem has also served as governor of Nangarhar.
Mujahid did not provide details about the fate of former minister Abdul Baqi Haqqani.
A few days ago, the Nangarhar University awarded an honorary doctorate to Haqqani.
