KABUL (Pajhwok): Two surrendering Taliban militants and one Frontier Corps soldier were killed and another wounded in a landmine blast in Pakistan’s restive South Waziristan tribal district, a media report said on Saturday.
Radio Mashaal reported that the blast took place in a market in Chagmali area of South Waziristan yesterday.
Nasrullah, a local security official, said the landmine blast killed three people and injured a fourth.
He said the slain individuals included two Taliban members who had surrendered to security forces and one FC personnel.
There was no claim of responsibility for the incident.
Such incidents have lately increased in South Waziristan where residents held rallies and protests to press the government to improve security.
Pakistani officials say they have taken measures to maintain security of the region and operations are ongoing in this regard.
