MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): A notorious bandit and kidnapper, Ihsan, was killed in a police encounter in northern Balkh province, police said on Sunday.
Balkh Police Headquarters in a statement said Ihsan was killed during an armed clash with police personnel of the seventh security district of Mazar-i-Sharif last night shortly after 11pm.
The statement said the slain person was one of the commanders of former Wolesi Jirga member Asadullah Sharifi.
It accused Ihsan of also killing a prominent doctor Asadullah Shariq in Balkh province.
Dr. Shariq was killed after being kidnapped about one and a half months ago.
