ASADABAD (Pajhwok): Six children of a poor man are suffering from hemophilia disease in the Pech Dara district of eastern Kunar province.

Speaking to Pajhwok Afghan News, the father of the ailing children, Maulvi Abdul Aziz, narrated the bitter story of his life — children setting around him.

The woebegone man said: “These six children of mine are suffering from hemophilia a bleeding disorder.”

The man added: “Doctors say my children need continuous treatment, but I don’t have the money required. I’m waiting for Allah’s help.”

As he broke into tears, Aziz said he left his house early in the morning and came back at dusk to mitigate the pain he felt while watching his children’s condition.

Life and death is in the hands of Allah and people can do nothing them, according to the distraught father, who said he would always remember his penury and predicament.

Now that he has sold all his belongings, Aziz is left with nothing. Worse still, his children are showing no signs of recovery.

Based on doctors’ information, he says, hemophilia is a kind of disease that can lead to spontaneous bleeding as well as bleeding following injuries or surgery.

“Shukrullah, my elder son, is an English Literature graduated. Shahidullah, another son of mine, is a 3rd year student at the Education Faculty. Both are capable, but their loves are incomplete,” he commented.

Shahidullah said his father had donated his blood to them several times. But doctors have now prohibited him from donating them more blood.

“Our father is financially vulnerable. We urge the government and donor agencies to help us in our treatment.”

On the other hand, doctors say these ailing individuals need continuous medical treatment involving enough money.

Dr. Dawood, a specialist in the pediatric ward of Asadabad Hospital, said: “Hemophilia is a disease of deficiency of a factor in the blood. This causes bleeding due to injury and the blood of such patients does not cloth.”

According to him, this is an incurable disease that cannot be diagnosed easily. He says there may be people suffering from this disease in Kunar and other parts of the country, but information about their number is not available.
