MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Instead of introducing a roadmap for media transmissions and publications, acting government was expanding limitations and curbs on journalists in northern Balkh province, local journalists has said.
They expressed the view during a gathering — Cooperation between government and media outlets — organized on Thursday evening in Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of northern Balkh province.
Khawaja Abdul Baseer Abid, head of a private media outlet in Balkh, said more limitations and curbs imposed on media after the takeover of current government.
He urged instead of imposing curbs, the government should organized a roadmap for the media publications and transmissions.
Local journalist Syed Mohammad Yazdan also termed the lack of a particular roadmap a challenge for the media outlets and added government should have one policy for the media outlets nationwide.
Mohammad Younis Rashid, youth affairs director of the Information and Cultural Affairs, acknowledged the challenges and problems that existed and said government held discussion regarding the formation of a roadmap for the media outlets.
During the gathering media outlets owners termed high electricity rates another issue they had been facing and asked officials to resolve it.
