NAI demands serious investigation into Merzae’s death

KABUL (Pajhwok): Free Media Support Organization (NAI) has demanded investigation into the death of a local journalist Mohammad Naseer Merziae in southern Kandahar province.

Demand for investigation comes when local officials linked the incident with family violence and termed Nerziae’s death a suicide.

Governor Spokesperson Haji Zaid told Pajhwok Afghan News the slain man is called Mohammad Naseer and committed suicide due to family violence on Sunday morning in Aino Mina area. He shot himself at his residence.

He said more investigation in this regard was underway and the outcome would be shared later on.

NAI has asked local officials in Kandahar to conduct the required investigation into Merzae’s death and share the detail of investigation as soon as possible.

There was need for forensic investigation and other necessary step in order to identify the reason behind Merzai’s death, NAI said.
