Education official, brother gunned down in Badghis

QALA-I-NAW (Pajhwok): Unknown gunmen killed a senior education official and his brother in the Qadis district of northern Badghis province, police said on Saturday.

Provincial police spokesman Seddiqullah Seddiqi told Pajhwok Afghan News Mawlawi Abdullah Obaida, a senior official of the education department, and his brother were killed in “Shashmany” area by unknown gunmen today when they were riding on a bike towards the provincial capital.

Obaida was in his 50s while his brother was an ordinary man. Seddiqi did not comment about the motive behind the double murder, but added that an investigation to arrest the perpetrators was underway.

Qadis district is about 40 kilometers east of the provincial capital Qala-i-Naw.
