MAZAR-i-SHARIF (Pajhwok): The residents of Chamtal district in northern Balkh province have demanded the construction of a bridge between Alizaio and Arzan Kar villages.
They said none-existence of a bridge forced them to transfer their vehicles and other equipment by boats from one side of the river to another side.
Abdul Ghafoor, the resident of Alizaio village told Pajhwok Afghan News that the Alizaio and Arzan Kar areas connected Chahar Boluk and Chamtal districts and people are facing huge problems due to the none-existence of bridge.
“We use boats to transfer livestock and vehicles. There is no boat available during the night and most of the time livestock and vehicle plunge in the water from boat,” he said.
Mawlavi Mohammad Qasim, the resident of Chamtal’s new township, said most of the time patients are not reached to the doctor in time and lost their lives on their way to the hospital.
Mullah Ahmad Jan, another resident of Chamtal district, said none-existence of the bridge is a huge issue and needed more attention.
Chamtal District Chief Mawlavi Noorullah Humam told Pajhwok Afghan News besides the non-existence of bridge there were several other issues that needed serious attention to be resolved.
He called on government officials to take necessary steps for the resolution of problems faced by the residents of Chamtal.
